Privacy Policy

Last updated October 3, 2026

The short version: we collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, and the puzzles you make are built in your own browser.

Puzzles you make

The word search maker runs entirely in your browser. Your title, words and settings are not sent to our servers. Your current draft and any puzzles you save are kept in your browser’s local storage on your device. You can delete them in the maker or by clearing your browser data.

When you share a puzzle, the whole puzzle is packed into the link itself, after the # sign. That part of a link isn’t sent to our servers when someone opens it. Anyone you give the link to can see the puzzle, so don’t put private information in shared puzzles.

Progress and preferences

To save your place in a puzzle, your best times and your print preferences, we use your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device. We don’t use it to identify you, and it isn’t sent to us.

Hosting and analytics

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

To understand which pages are useful, we use Numative, a privacy-friendly analytics service. It counts visits without cookies, doesn’t store IP addresses or other personal identifiers, and can’t follow you across websites or from one day to the next.

Cookies

We don’t set advertising or tracking cookies.

Children

Our puzzles are made for all ages, including children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, and the site has no sign-up, comments or chat.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Questions? Email hello@betterwordsearch.com.
