About this puzzle
Every word here is something a player meets on the way from a first night in the woods to the final fight in the End. There are mobs to dodge or befriend, like the Creeper, Enderman, and Axolotl, blocks and ores worth digging for, tools such as the Pickaxe and Furnace, and a few biomes to explore. Steve is in the list too, standing in for every player who ever punched a tree.
This Minecraft word search suits a gaming-themed birthday party, a coding or STEM club, or a rainy afternoon when screen time is over but the talk is still about builds. Kids who play every day will spot most words fast on easy mode, and hard mode gives older players a real dig. The notes below double as a quick guide for parents. This is an unofficial fan puzzle made for fun.
The 30 words in this puzzle
Every word, with a short note. Handy for teaching the vocabulary before or after solving.
In every version (12)
- Creeper
- A green, silent mob that sneaks up on players and explodes. Its design began as an accident when the game's creator tried to make a pig model.
- Diamond
- A rare, light blue gem found deep underground. Diamonds make some of the strongest tools and armor and are a classic sign of progress.
- Emerald
- A green gem used as money when trading with villagers. Emerald ore is found in mountain biomes, but most players get emeralds by trading.
- Enderman
- A tall, dark mob that can teleport and pick up blocks. It stays calm unless a player looks straight at its eyes.
- Furnace
- A block that smelts ore into ingots and cooks raw food. It burns fuel such as coal, wood, or even a bucket of lava.
- Pickaxe
- The main tool for mining stone and ore. Pickaxes come in wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite, and better ones can mine rarer blocks.
- Redstone
- A red dust that carries power like electricity. Players use it to build doors, traps, farms, and even working calculators inside the game.
- Skeleton
- Skeletons are night mobs that shoot arrows from a bow. Like zombies, they burn in daylight, and defeating one can drop bones and arrows.
- Steve
- The original default player character, with a teal shirt and blue pants. Alex, with orange hair, was added later as a second default character.
- Torch
- A simple light source made from a stick and coal or charcoal. Lighting up dark areas helps stop hostile mobs from appearing nearby.
- Villager
- A peaceful mob that lives in villages and has a job, such as farmer, librarian, or toolsmith. Players trade with villagers using emeralds.
- Zombie
- Zombies are slow, groaning mobs that come out at night and burn in sunlight unless they find shade or wear a helmet. Baby zombies are much faster.
Added in Medium and Hard (8)
- Alex
- Alex is a default player character who joined Steve in 2014. She has orange hair and slimmer arms, and many players pick her as their look.
- Axolotl
- A cute salamander mob found in lush caves. Axolotls help players fight underwater mobs and come in several colors, including a very rare blue.
- Cobblestone
- The gray block players get from mining stone. It is often a beginner's first building material and is used to craft stone tools and furnaces.
- Ender Dragon
- The giant boss that lives in the End dimension. Defeating it is the closest thing Minecraft has to finishing the game, though players can keep building forever.
- Iron Golem
- A large, gentle mob that protects villages and their villagers from danger. It sometimes offers a red poppy to a nearby villager.
- Jungle
- A warm, thick biome with very tall trees, vines, and bamboo. It is home to parrots, ocelots, and pandas, and can hide jungle temples.
- Nether Portal
- A frame of obsidian blocks that, once lit, carries players to the Nether. This fiery dimension is full of lava, strange mobs, and rare materials.
- Obsidian
- A very hard purple-black block made when water meets a still lava source. It is needed to build a Nether Portal and can only be mined with a diamond or netherite pickaxe.
Added in Hard (10)
- Bedrock
- Bedrock is the unbreakable block at the very bottom of the world. In normal survival play, no tool can mine it, not even a netherite pickaxe.
- Biome
- A region of the world with its own land, plants, weather, and mobs. Deserts, oceans, jungles, and snowy plains are all biomes.
- Elytra
- A pair of wings found in End Cities. Players wear them in place of a chestplate to glide through the air, and fireworks can boost their speed.
- Ender Pearl
- Ender Pearls drop from Endermen. Throwing one teleports the player to wherever it lands, and mixing it with blaze powder makes an Eye of Ender.
- Ghast
- A big, white, floating mob in the Nether that makes crying sounds and shoots fireballs. Players can hit the fireballs back at it.
- Lapis Lazuli
- Lapis Lazuli is a blue mineral mined from ore deep underground. Players need it to enchant tools and armor, and it also makes blue dye.
- Netherite
- The strongest material for tools and armor, made from ancient debris found in the Nether. Netherite items float in lava instead of burning up.
- Taiga
- A cool forest biome full of spruce trees. Foxes and wolves live there, and sweet berry bushes grow on the forest floor.
- Warden
- The Warden is a huge, blind mob that lives in the Deep Dark far underground. It tracks players by sound and smell, so sneaking quietly is the best plan.
- Wither
- The Wither is a three-headed boss that players build themselves from soul sand and three wither skeleton skulls. Defeating it drops a Nether Star, used to craft a beacon.
